ok, here's a dummy's guide to solving your hotmail issues. Live mail sucks and its very laggy.
this should work since its the most viable method online and many tried and succeeded.
Steps:
1. Open up internet explorer.
2. At the top left area of the window, click on the "tools" option
3. Move down to "internet options" and click on it
4. At the top of the screen, there should be tabs, select the "connections" tab.
I believe that all of you all that need this are using broadband, dialup users please do not follow the steps below:
(Dial up users please look for me directly)
5. Under the LAN connection button, select "LAN settings".
6. Tick the box under "proxy settings": Use a proxy server for your LAN .......
7. In the address box: type in "proxy.singnet.com.sg"
8. In the port box: type in 8080
9. Click on the OK button and close the windows
10. Restart your Internet Explorer, hotmail should work now.
(If it still fails, change the Proxy that you typed in to proxy2.singnet.com.sg)
If hotmail still doesn't work, follow the same steps all the way to step 8
9. Untick the box that says: Automatically detect settings
10. Tick the box under proxy that says: Bypass proxy server for local addresses
11. Click on the OK button and close the windows
12. Restart your internet explorer, hotmail should work now.
In any case that hotmail still fails, try to untick the box in step 10 in the above steps.
If all fails, please download the newest version of Internet Explorer, (ie. Internet Explorer 7)
For firefox users, the same steps apply, the only difference is that your connection tab does not exist.
After selecting Options:
1. At the top bar there should be this "Advanced" Tab
2. There would be 4 more tabs, select the "Network" tab
3. Under connection, select "Settings"
4. Select Manual proxy configuration
5. Type in the same thing as above under the HTTP Proxy,
Proxy: proxy.singnet.com.sg Port: 8080
6. Save your settings and close.
(If it still fails, change the Proxy that you typed in to proxy2.singnet.com.sg)
If hotmail still fails, move back to the connection settings page.
Select the option: Use this proxy server for all protocols.
Hotmail should work now.
PS: IF ALL STILL FAILS AND YOUR HOTMAIL IS STILL NOT WORKING, IM SORRY AND HAVE NO SOLUTIONS FOR THEM, PLEASE FOLLOW THE EXTREME MEASURES STATED BELOW:
- Change your internet service provider to Starhub
OR
- Stick to Live Mail
OR
- Start praying that Singnet solves the issue for you
OK thats the end of the guide
